✨ 10 Fun Facts About Me! ✨

Hi, I’m Ginny! If we haven’t met yet, here’s a little peek into my world:

1️⃣ I’m the oldest of five kids, which means I’ve been a natural teacher my whole life!
2️⃣ I’ve raised four kids and also have three adult stepchildren, with ages ranging from 6 to 38—so I’ve experienced every stage of parenting.
3️⃣ I’ve traveled and lived in 12 countries, and even student-taught in Rome, Italy—an experience that shaped my love for global education.
4️⃣ My great-grandfather wrote a book about Mexico, and now I live there part-time. His love for travel and culture shaped my own.
5️⃣ I grew up on a farm in Iowa, where I learned the value of hard work, wide open spaces, and slowing down. Now, I’m happiest with a plate full of spicy food—the hotter, the better!
6️⃣ I’m currently writing children’s books and searching for the perfect illustrator to bring my stories to life.
7️⃣ I’ve been to over 100 live shows, including an unforgettable weekend front row at Lollapalooza! Live music is my happy place.
8️⃣ I love to sing and perform, whether it’s on stage or in the classroom—music brings joy to everything I do!
9️⃣ I once opened a learning pod during the pandemic, helping 35 kids navigate online school—while also caring for my own baby! It was chaotic but incredibly rewarding.
🔟 I always say yes to adventure—whether it’s trying a new food, hopping on a last-minute flight, or finding hidden gems in my favorite cities!

At Harmony, we believe children aren’t just becoming, they already are. Maria Montessori understood that a child’s worth isn’t tied to who they will be someday but to who they are right now. She taught us that children deserve to be seen, heard, and valued in the present, not just prepared for the future.

As a parent, I’ve found that focusing on the moment tends to take care of the long-term. In a culture where you have to start planning for selective enrollment high schools while your child is still in elementary school, it’s easy to get caught up in worry about the future. I’ve been there, wondering if my child is on the “right” track, anxious about whether they’ll measure up. But what I’ve come to realize is that there is always a path, as long as we focus on our child’s unique abilities instead of comparing them to a rigid system.

Too often, childhood is framed as a waiting period: waiting to grow, waiting to learn enough, waiting to become “someone.” But the truth is, children are someone now. They have thoughts, feelings, and ideas that matter today. When we take the time to listen, to meet their needs with care, and to be fully present, we show them that their experiences and emotions are just as important in this moment as they ever will be.

At Harmony, we honor every child as they are today while supporting the beautiful journey ahead. Because childhood isn’t just a path to the future- it’s a life fully worth living in the present. 💛

I didn’t have it all figured out. I didn’t have a roadmap. But I had a voice inside me that wouldn’t let me sleep.

When the world shut down, when kids needed a place to learn, when parents needed support- I stepped up.

Not because it was easy.
Not because I had all the answers.
But because not doing it wasn’t an option.

That experience shaped everything I do today. It taught me that learning isn’t about four walls. It’s about connection & curiosity. It gave me the confidence to step outside the box and trust myself.

As a Montessori educator, I value independence, intentionality, and respect for the environment—not just in learning, but in everyday life.

In cities like Chicago or Paris, the temptation to buy all the beautiful things is strong. But in Sayulita, where nature takes center stage and things aren’t as easily sourced, that urge fades. I feel more present and less driven by impulse.

One simple habit I’ve encouraged my daughter to adopt—especially when we travel—is taking photos of things she wants instead of asking me to buy them right away. We add them to a wishlist for special occasions. More often than not, she forgets about them. And when she does circle back, I know it’s something she truly loves.

I also think about the lifespan of an item—will it bring joy and purpose for years, like Magnatiles, or be forgotten in a few weeks?

I want to practice this too: Do I really love this? Will it bring lasting joy? Because the best souvenirs aren’t things—they’re the moments, connections, and stories we bring home.

I just didn’t yet know what the next chapter would look like.

And slowly, the path became clear. Education has always been my heart, but I realized my impact didn’t need to stay within four walls. Harmony Learning Adventures was born out of the belief that learning is everywhere—in the streets of Paris, the jungles of Mexico, the vibrant neighborhoods of Chicago. That education isn’t a place, but a way of being.

This new chapter wasn’t something I built overnight. It was something I had to trust would come. And now, as I step forward, I see it clearly—that closed door didn’t lead to another room; it opened to the world. 🌍✨

I’ve so enjoyed the last 3 years of our after school program, seeing your little ones in their element and watching them thrive. I’m so grateful for your support and for the new friendships this little biz brought me. This is the end of an era, but not the end.
